intro

i dreamt up nyawice out of nowhere tbh. i typed out the words “catboy alice” in a discord server and the immediate response (from oj at least) was to tell me to stop

i was trying to work on a tkl at the time so nyawice was more of a concept than anything. i did end up exporting a few render files for friends to use

this is a render of gmk orange boi on nyawice back when it had very little of its defining features. no nose, no heart leds, no rounded top profile, no ear cutouts, no curved whiskers, but the spirit was there

during dsa magic girl r2 nyawice got featured on the hero on mintlodica’s site

mint also posted this image on instagram, which is of the baby nyawice called mewice. my instagram account was still kinda baby at the time and mint tagged + mentioned me so i got like 300 followers overnight

this iteration of nyawice was incredibly goofy. a trackball was added and the mounting was updated from top mount to top mount plus o ring. as in the type of o ring that wraps around a keyboard. which doesn’t really work with concave corners but i thought i had found a fix in the form of a screw to hold the o ring in place. it was smart of me to not prototype this

the board also got cloned at one point by someone in china. this was a one off apparently

around here is when nyawice really took on its identity. patty paid for this unit and then i sent it back out to her, so she has the first ever nyawice now. thank you patty
